Today we throwback to a very conscious track Mr President by veteran Nigerian singer Chinagorom Onuoha popularly known as African China.
The record, which was released in 2007 and housed under the album Mr President, still matches the current societal state in Nigeria. The song touches on the diverse ills and calamities befalling citizens of the nation as a result of the bad governance and corruption of the the legislative and executive arms of the Nigerian government. It also hits on the high level of bribery/thievery and electoral malpractices which occurs among government official, low standard of living of the masses and high level of unemployment in the nation.
It is a lot disheartening that, over a decade after the song’s original release, the country has continually degenerated in all sectors. Recently, the government has been attacking the youths who exercised their fundamental rights of staging a peaceful protest against the police brutality and bad governance in Nigeria.
